What a concert! This was just great!
We, that is my sister, two friends, a friend of theirs and I, arrived
at the venue, which was the Arena shortly before they opened the hall.
The Arena isn't very big, I'd estimate it holds maybe 2000 people and so
it wasn't hard to secure places in the second row, even if we were not
among the first in the hall. Our friends wanted to stay a little more back
and so it was just my sister and me. But there were some familiar faces
around. Corvus Corax is fairly well known among the Live-Roleplaying
Community and so I saw some people I know from there.

The concert began at 9pm and right from the start it was great. They now
have 3 people on the drums and it really adds much to their songs. Playing
the bagpipes and "Schalmeien" were the usual five men.
|
They played for about three quarters of an hour then had a short break
during which they showed a short documentary about them and then returned
for about another one and a quarter of an hour.

The concert wasn't only great to hear, but also to see. After the break
most of them came back wearing not much except shoes or boots, leather
skirts or aprons and various chains and leather ribbons. (Yum! :->) They
also brought a pyrotechnician who supported their show with fire and
fireworks.
This was really one of the best concerts I have ever seen. The places we
had were great, the people around us were friendly and once the music
started there was enough room to dance. The only negative part of the
audience was the "security." They weren't necessary but disturbed the
concert a bit with silly calls and chants. Even the band was a little
annoyed for a while. I hope they will take someone else as security the
next time.

Aside from that, everything else was just great. (Sorry, I keep repeating
that, but I really can't find a better word to describe how much I enjoyed
the evening.) It was quite visible that the band also had a good time. You
could see that they have played together for a long time. The show was
simple but very effective with co-ordinated place changes or all of them
going forth and back simultaneously and things like that.
They musical co-ordination and sound were also perfect and they easily
commanded the audience to clap, sing or shout.
We had the best of times, even my sister, who easily gets annoyed by
thick crowds. After the concert I bought their live CD. I hope they will
be back in Vienna soon. |
